![]() This dub was infamous for making a plethora of changes that took a series that was at times fairly brutal in both action and language and censoring it to make it more appropriate for an audience of 7 year old kids. Simply titled, One Piece, this was a tie in to the infamous 4Kids dub of the anime that was airing at the time. While Japan was deep in the throes of getting One Piece games for the Gameboy Advance that were either board games or soem form of RPG, there was actually a One Piece game that, strangely enough, was made purely for the North American market. After all, if you’re still catching up on the series, it can be nice to play a game from earlier in the timeline of video game titles, as it’s less likely to spoil anything that you haven’t read or watched just yet. This won’t be anywhere near an exhaustive list, mind you, but just a highlight reel for those who might be interested in checking a few of the other titles out. So, in honor of the release of the latest game, One Piece Odyssey, I’m taking a brief break from my lengthy play session to give you a brief history about some of the One Piece games over the years. There have been a whole lot of them, which you might expect for a franchise that’s been running since 1997 and has been a juggernaut for most of it’s existence. One thing that I never really dove too deep into was the games, though. ![]() ![]() While I have my qualms with small bits and pieces of it, it’s undeniably an epic story and one of my favorite manga to read and keep up with on a weekly basis (the anime is something I have more mixed feelings about that I won’t get into here). So, I have to admit that I’ve been a fan of One Piece for over a decade now. ![]()
